Over the years as a therapist, I’ve sat with countless clients navigating the pain of rupture in relationships, wanting to make amends, but feeling completely stuck. Not because they didn’t care, but because their bodies and emotions were in such a state of reactivity, they couldn’t find a way to even begin the conversation. So they avoided it.
But avoidance comes with a cost.
